Tips to get Effective Backlinks for your Website

Search engine optimization is the process of optimizing web pages in order to generate high rankings on search engine result pages (SERPs). This process is known as the organic form of marketing on search engines, and is divided into two further categories – on-page and off-page optimization.

The former deals with elements that contribute to the creation of a website – content, meta tags, RSS feeds, navigational structure, et al. And, the latter deals with factors external to a web page, like links, directories, forums, etc.

Link building is one of the most crucial aspects of optimization. It is the technique of getting your website's links placed on other sites or online directories in order to route traffic back to your own site. There are basically four types of link exchanges – one-way, two-way, three-way and paid linking.

One-way linking is the most effective and easily acquirable of all link exchange programmes. It helps the process of SEO by generating backlinks for web pages. Here are a few easy ways of getting one-way links:

  • Free Directories – Submit your site into free directories available online. Most of these directories allow only one-way link submission. Just add your web page's URL in the most relevant category, and you will, after a review from their end, get a link back to your page.
  • Blogs – Posting on blogs on a regular basis can boost your optimization campaign a great deal. When you write something on a hot and debatable issue, you are most likely to get a comment or email on the same. Include your site's link in the blog post and get traffic diverted back to you.
  • Articles – On the World Wide Web, nothing generates more appeal than the written word. Write simple and relevant articles and submit them on article directories available online. Along with informing readers about your product or service, you can also include your site's link in the article, thus boosting the process of organic search engine optimization.
  • RSS – Known as Really Simple Syndication, these are web feeds that publish frequently-edited content like news, blogs, announcements, et al. These feeds either have summary of the write-up or the complete text itself. You can easily get backlinks on your RSS feeds posted on other sites.

Apart from these sources, you can also get backlinks from social networking sites – just join one of the available communities and write relevant stuff that can lure web readers. Generate as many backlinks as possible, and you are sure to pep up your rankings as well as PageRank on search engines.
